Indian film and television actor Sushant Singh has reportedly committed suicide at his residency in Mumbai. He was only 34 at the time of his death.

Singh was found hanging at his home in Bandra earlier this morning. However, no suicide note has yet been found. Initial reports from the police say that he was suffering from depression for the past six months and was living alone in lockdown when he took this extreme step.

According to India Today, Singh had hosted his friends on Saturday night and went to bed really late. He was still asleep with the door locked when his house help arrived in the morning. Upon knocking several times and not getting any response, the helper called his friends who forced open the door and found him hanging.

Police are currently investigating his death.

The actor started his journey on the silver screen and played roles in famous serials like "Pavitar Rishta".

Sushant Singh made his Bollywood debut in 2013 with "Kai Po Che!", and his most recent movie was "Chhichhore". Sushant played a lead role opposite Shraddha Kapoor. Singh made his mark on Bollywood with movies like "Suddh Desi Romance", "Detective Byomkesh Bakshi" and "M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story".

Singh originally belonged to Patna to a family of politicians. His brother Neeraj Kumar Bablu is a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). Sushant was an outstanding student. A mechanical engineer by education, he also won Physics Olympiad.

Actor's former manager Disha Salian was also found dead just five days ago.
