Coronavirus is still rampant in most countries but it's especially widespread across all the fifty states of America. With almost 3 million cases and over 130,000 deaths, the US is by far the most adversely affected country by COVID-19.

For the past few days, novel Coronavirus has been spreading at an alarming rate in the country with new cases per day crossing 40,000 mark constantly and even going beyond 50,000 this week. But in the past 24 hours, the US has reported less than 50,000 new cases for the first time in four days.

These are the numbers for the past four days provided by Johns Hopkins University :

  Date -- New cases

1st July -- 51,174

2nd July -- 54,461

3rd July -- 52,104

4th July -- 45,283

Although the dip in cases is a sigh of relief, public health experts fear celebrations for the July 4th, USA Independence Day weekend will act like rocket fuel for the nation’s surging outbreak. They also believe that the lower figure on Saturday doesn't necessarily mean the situation in the country is improving, as it could be due to reduced reporting on a national holiday.

Reduced reporting or not, the numbers are still concerning in the US as some states are reporting their record one-day tallies for the new covid cases. Florida's situation is particularly precarious as cases soar to more than 200,000 in the state. Other states like California and Texas are also reporting a spike in new coronavirus cases.
