ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Tuesday "strongly" condemned recent missile and drone attacks towards Saudi Arabia by Houthi militia. In his tweet, Qureshi said that to save innocent lives in Yemen, the fighting must stop.

"Pakistan condemns the continued Houthi missile and drone attacks on Saudi Arabia. To save innocent lives in Yemen, the fighting must stop and United Nations-brokered peace must be given a chance. Flag of Pakistan believes that war serves no purpose & all issues should be resolved through dialogue," said Qureshi in a statement.

In a separate statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri has strongly condemned the recent missile and drone strikes by Houthis on Saudi Arabia, which is a violation of Kingdom s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement issued on Tuesday, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said

“We commend how Saudi Arabia s successful defensive actions prevented loss of many innocent civilian lives,” the FO spokesperson said. He said Pakistan expresses full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and supports the Kingdom s right to defend itself against aggression.

He said Pakistan has consistently urged all parties to the conflict in Yemen to engage in a meaningful and peaceful dialogue to end the hostilities, in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 2216.

The Spokesperson said Pakistan expresses deep concern at the recent escalation of conflict in Yemen, as the city of Marib is threatened by the Houthi militias.

He said we believe that if military conflict engulfs Marib, it will result in a serious humanitarian catastrophe. NNI
