Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, on Saturday, met United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Al Hashimy on the sidelines of Organization of Islamic Cooperation's (OIC) 47th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers Meeting held in Niamey, Niger.
During the meeting, Shah Mehmood Qureshi stressed upon the need to address visa restrictions for Pakistani citizens imposed by the UAE government earlier this month. Qureshi underscored the need to address the issue at the earliest possible, shared the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement:
"FM Shah Mehmood Qureshi met UAE Minister of State Reem Al Hashimi on sidelines of #OIC47CFMNiamey. FM stressed on Pakistan’s commitment to forge closer cooperation with UAE in diverse fields. Apprising the Emirati Minister of the difficulties being faced by Flag of Pakistan citizens with regard to #UAE visa, FM underscored the need to address the issue at the earliest possible."
The two leaders also discussed issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations, and the epidemic. The UAE Minister appreciated the Foreign Minister's address on the occasion of the 47th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers and thanked him for speaking out against Islamophobia.
