Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of opposition parties against the PTI government, is preparing for Jalsa in Multan's Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh stadium today as the government tries to stop the political gathering because of COVID-19 restrictions in place.

The government had asked the PDM to postpone Jalsas and rallies on the account of the second wave of COVID-19. However, PDM decided to go ahead with the gathering.

Maryam Nawaz leaves for Multan:

The vice-president of Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) Maryam Nawaz has left for Multan from Lahore. She will travel to the city of saints via GT Road. Before leaving from Jati Umra, Maryam spoke to the media saying that the PTI-led government is counting its last days in power and is going to be sent packing soon.

While speaking to the journalists, Maryam said that she is leaving for Multan on the instructions of former premier Mian Nawaz Sharif despite that she is grieving from the loss of her grandmother.

"The coronavirus standard operating procedures (SOPs) are being openly violated across the country. When Jamat-i-Islami and the ruling PTI hold their rallies and conventions, does coronavirus not spread there?" she asked and added, "Are all the SOPs only for the Opposition?

Aseefa Bhutto Zardari to fill in for COVID positive Bilawal:

Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, the youngest child of Benazir Bhutto and Asif Ali Zardari, will lead the PPP during today's Jalsa. She traveled to Multan via plane and will be standing in for party chairman and brother Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, who tested positive for the novel coronavirus last week and is self-isolating. He will be addressing the Jalsa via video link.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Thursday, had announced that he has tested positive for coronavirus and will not be attending the Jalsa.

Punjab IG gives orders to remove barricades from Opposition leaders' paths:

Punjab Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Inam Ghani, on Monday, ordered the police to not prevent the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders from leading the Jalsa in Multan, reported media.

According to the details, the police chief asked the force to remove all barriers placed on roads to prevent the gathering from taking place, just hours before the Jalsa.

The PDM fails to secure permission to hold the Jalsa:

The local administration of Multan, on Thursday, had declined an application by the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) to grant permission for a public gathering planned, citing the rising spread of the coronavirus. The Deputy Commissioner of Multan Amir Khattak had refused to allow opposition parties to hold the gathering while citing that Punjab government directives have banned any public gatherings of more than 300 guests until January 31 next year. Khattak also added that at least eight smart lockdowns have been imposed in the city to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.

Govt seals the venue:

The local administration on Friday had sealed Qilla Kohna Qasim Bagh in Multan with containers as Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has started preparations to hold rally on November 30 despite government’s ban on public gatherings due to coronavirus outbreak.
