The Foreign Ministers of Pakistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan will meet today (Wednesday) to hold the 2nd Trilateral Meeting in Islamabad. The first round of talks took place in Baku in November 2017.

During the meeting, the three sides will exchange views on global and regional issues, including new and emerging threats to regional peace and security, address challenges faced by the COVID-19 pandemic, environment, and Climate Change; and to achieve economic development targets, shared the Foreign Office (FO) in a statement.

"The three Foreign Ministers would also explore possibilities of deepening trilateral cooperation in all areas of common interest, including peace and security, trade and investment, science and technology, education, and cultural cooperation," said FO in a press release.

The Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu had arrived in Pakistan on Tuesday for a two-day official visit. This will be his third visit during the last two and a half years. Meanwhile, the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, will be arriving in Islamabad today to take part in the meeting.

It is important to mention that this will be the first bilateral visit from Azerbaijan at the Foreign Minister level, since 2010.
