Former President and co-chairman of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Asif Ali Zardari has suggested that opposition parties jointly contest the Senate polls under the banner of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) platform, reported Business Recorder on Tuesday.

According to the details, the suggestion was put forth as the former president believes that a joint-candidature will allow the opposition alliance to secure more seats in upcoming elections. The final decision in this regard will be taken in the upcoming PDM meeting to be held on 4th February.

Earlier, Geo News had reported that Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar continues to make effort to bring back estranged party members and contact assembly members of Shehbaz Sharif-led PML-N.

It is pertinent to mention that PDM had earlier announced to abstain from taking part in the upcoming Senate elections, however, reverted the decision when PPP and PML- leadership decided otherwise.
