ISLAMABAD: A full bench of the Supreme Court Thursday reserved the verdict in Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s application to live telecast the hearing of his review petition against an SC decision in the presidential reference against Justice Isa case.

A 10-member full bench of the apex court headed by Justice Umar Atta Bandial heard the arguments in the case and reserved the verdict. A short order may be announced soon. While giving his arguments, Justice Faez Isa said Imran Khan has attacked a constitutional institution like the Election Commission of Pakistan and in future, if he felt unhappy with the Supreme Court then he may demand resignations from the judges as well.

He said a Prime Minister who talks about Riasat-e-Madinah uses public money to come to the office on a helicopter. Justice Isa claimed that terrorism was being promoted in the country. He said his report on the Quetta incident has been thrown to the dustbin. He said in a few days the nation would celebrate the 81st Pakistan Day but lamented that now on such an occasion those who created Pakistan have faded and the only parade has taken the centre stage.

He said it is feared that soon General Ziaul Haq’s picture will replace Quaid-e-Azam. He said it is forbidden to talk about the separation of East Pakistan and questioned that if Hamoodur Rehman Commission’s report was not to be implemented then why the commission had been constituted? He said those who think of themselves as the owner of the country or either Pharaohs or insane.

He said if a judge is allowed only to speak through his decisions then media should be totally thrown out from the court. He said the public was being hoodwinked and a number one intelligence agency failed to name the culprits who recorded the video of Judge Arshad Malik.

He told the authorities to sack the judges but don’t try to blackmail them. The lawyers for President, Prime Minister and Law Minister have endorsed the arguments of the Federal Government’s lawyer and the court has reserved the verdict that is expected to be announced shortly. NNI
