Pakistan on Friday has reported 5,312 new cases and 105 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours as the third wave continues.

According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 54,948 coronavirus tests were taken, 5,312 came out positive, and 105 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.

There are currently 4,116 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country, the highest number of critical patients reported since the pandemic began.

With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed cases stands at 710,829. Pakistan has so far recorded 15,229 coronavirus-related deaths, and a total of 625,789 patients have recovered from the novel disease.

Pakistan to start vaccinating 125,000 people daily after Eid:

The Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives Asad Umar on Thursday said that the government plans to open registration for novel coronavirus vaccination for all citizens after the Eid ul Fitr holidays.

The senior PTI leader said China is the main supplier of vaccines to Pakistan. Dubbing the next few weeks "critical", the minister urged the public to strictly follow Covid SOPs to help straighten the virus curve in the country as soon as possible. He said:

"We'll be able to vaccinate more than 125,000 people daily after Eid ul Fitr. CanSino vaccines will be available after the festival which will help boost our immunization drive."
