Pakistan on Tuesday has reported 5,445 new cases and 137 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours as the country struggles with the third wave of coronavirus.
According to statistics shared by National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), the country's nerve center for unified efforts against coronavirus, 68,002 coronavirus tests were taken, 5,445 came out positive, and 137 deaths were reported countrywide in the last 24 hours.
There are currently 4,494 critical patients of COVID-19 admitted at different hospitals in the country. And the reported positivity rate is 8.00%.
With these latest statistics, the country's total number of confirmed active cases stands at 83,298. Pakistan has so far recorded 766,882 confirmed cases, 16,453 deaths, and a total of 667,131 recoveries from the novel disease.
Most active cases are reported in Punjab (45,491) followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (13,591), and Islamabad (12,648). There are currently 8,232, 2,276, 963, and 97 active cases in Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Balochistan, and Gilgit Baltistan respectively.
