ISLAMABAD: An emergency session of the National Assembly passed a resolution calling for the expulsion of the French ambassador over the issue.

A meeting was held in the National Assembly under the chairmanship of Speaker Saad Qaiser.

The text of the resolution states that the House strongly condemns the publication of the blasphemous and insulting sketches of the honorable Prophet on September 1, 2020 by the controversial French magazine Charlie Hepdo.

The resolution called for the expulsion of the French ambassador.

It was also demanded in the House that matters of international relations should be decided by the state and no individual, group or party can exert undue pressure in this regard.

Addressing the National Assembly, PML-N leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that is no two ways about the sanctity of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). A unanimous resolution should have been tabled in the House. Members should be given time to read the resolution.

Asad Mahmood of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islami said that Imran Khan made a policy statement in his address to the nation. The policy statement did the job of burning oil. Why negotiations were held after the government policy came? We demanded that the points of the agreement be brought forward.

He said that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) is the center of our religion, there is no distance. The resolution proposal wants to give its suggestions. The facts of the negotiations with the banned TLP should be brought to the fore.

He further said that the government has maintained criminal silence for three months. Those who shed blood in the country should be held accountable. Every Pakistani is very passionate about the honor of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). I will not allow the resolution proposal to be ignored. The government should sit with the opposition and come up with a unanimous resolution. This is not just a problem of the banned TLP, it is a problem of the entire nation.

Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq Qadri said that people of one party came out on the streets. The government should have listened to the views of those who came on the streets.

The Federal Minister said that love for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) should make every Muslim more than himself. This resolution is a reflection of our commitment and thinking.
