Today, the Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan on National Health Services Dr. Faisal Sultan announced that the portal for coronavirus vaccination of remaining health care workers have been reopened till April 30th.

The de-facto federal health minister took to Twitter a few hours ago writing:

To give opportunity to all remaining healthcare workers to get vaccinated, the registration portal (https://t.co/aI3eDzlNUo) has been re-opened till 30 April.

Urging the frontline health heroes to register themselves as soon as possible, he wrote:

Visit portal and register by following instructions.

In the first phase of Pakistan's coronavirus vaccination drive which began in early February, health care workers were registered and given priority over everyone else as they were at the most risk. Many doctors, nurses, and paramedics registered and got the vaccines. But a significant number of health care workers either didn't register themselves or were not registered by some procedural issues. This meant that thousands of health care providers have still not been vaccinated in Pakistan.

Some haven't been registered yet while many who are registered already are unable to get the jabs due to a shortage of vaccines. Most vaccination centers have run out of first dose vaccines and only the second dose of COVID vaccines is being given nowadays in several centers. This issue needs to be addressed by the government as soon as possible as we have to protect our frontline warriors at all costs.

The reopening of the portal is welcoming but the authorities must ensure that every one of our health heroes gets their jabs this time.
