Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiative also addressed a press conference in Islamabad to mark the achievement. While addressing media, Umar said:

"The more quickly we get ourselves vaccinated, the faster we will be able to rid ourselves of this menace."

The federal minister said the masses have done a commendable job in following coronavirus SOPs, which has in result cause the positivity rate to drop. The government wants to vaccinate at least 70 million people by the end of this year to avoid a fourth wave, he said.

Current situation of COVID-19 in Pakistan:

Pakistan on Wednesday has reported 1,118 new cases and 77 COVID-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours as the positivity rate remains below 3% for a consecutive day.
