ISPR claims TTP commander killed in security operation

The security forces say they have killed a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan commander during an operation in North Waziristan, Inter-Services Public Relations said on Monday.

According to the ISPR, the leader, named Safiullah, hailed from Mir Ali town of N Waziristan, was involved in the murder of four women in February 2021 who belonged to a non-governmental organisation. He was also a part of November 2020 target killing of Frontier Works Organisation engineers, said the ISPR.

The military’s media wing further said the TTP commander was involved in attacks on security forces using land mines, kidnapping for ransom and extortion.

During the operation, the security forces also recovered explosives and arms, according to the report.

'Three terrorist groups using Afghan soil against Pakistan'

Prime Minister Imran Khan said three terrorist groups had been using Afghan soil to launch terrorist attacks in Pakistan, adding, stability in Afghanistan was in everyone’s interest.

He said while addressing a joint press conference along with Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon after holding one-on-one meeting and delegation level talks in Dushanbe.
