Federal information minister Fawad Chaudhry on Friday lashed out at YouTubers for operating with impunity. He was addressing an event organized by Arab News in Islamabad when he said some YouTubers think "they should be allowed to do whatever they want and no action should be taken against them."

The minister urged the media to address the problem of fake news, as it had become a big challenge in the era of modern technology.

Chaudhry said it was important for journalists are trained in distinguishing fake news from fact. He asked journalists to look within and find ways to face the challenge of fake news.

Moreover, the federal minister stressed the need for providing information with responsibility.

He also spoke about how fake news comes from India. He said on average 175 fake news are created on daily basis by Indian channels.

He said two incidents of violence against women -- the assault of a TikToker at Minar-e-Pakistan and Noor Mukadam's murder — were used to give the impression that Pakistan was unsafe for women.
