The wife of Nazim Jokhio, the man who was allegedly bludgeoned to death for recording a video, on Thursday said that Pakistan Peoples Party Member National Assembly (MNA) Jam Abdul Karim Bikar had offered her money to withdraw the murder case against his brother Jam Awais, who is a member of the Sindh parliament.

Jokhio, a young man from Malir area in Karachi, was allegedly murdered on November 3 by the chieftain of his tribe for filming and sharing a video of foreigners hunting houbara bustard, an endangered species of bird, near his village in Thatta.

The autopsy report confirmed that Jokhio was beaten violently by hard and blunt objects, which caused cardiac arrest that resulted in his death.

Abdul Karim had acquired pre-arrest bail from the Balochistan High Court after being nominated in the case.

Jokhio's wife Shireen, while talking to media outside a court in Karachi, said she did not want to do any deal. “Stop talking about a deal, we don’t want to do any deal. We spit on your money, we are not going to sell Nazim’s body,” she said.

She said the PPP was "unable to do anything" and "not cooperating with us" despite "we are the sisters, brothers of Shaheed Benazir". "It’s just a party in name," she said, pleading people to help her in getting justice.

Referring to Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah's visit to the family to offer condolences, she said that the provincial chief executive made "huge claims at that time but he did not do anything to help the family in getting justice".

So far, the accused including the PPP MNA elected from Karachi's NA-236 and MPA from Thatta are still part of the PPP.

Addressing directly the chief minister, Shireen said: “You haven’t removed those [accused of Nazim’s murder] from your party. You [Murad] would only realize our pain when such things happen to members of family."

The widow claimed the PPP MNA remains in hiding. “He [Jam Karim] didn’t even hand over his clothes [for DNA testing].

“He broke my husband’s bones. Only an animal could do that,” she said, adding that the Jokhios used to respect Jam Abdul Karim as a clan elder. “But now you people mean nothing to us.”
