Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi ruled out the minus-Imran formula after Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) said that the incumbent government may complete its tenure but PM Imran was unlikely to survive the no-trust motion tabled by the opposition in the National Assembly.

Addressing a press conference along with Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain and Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar in Islamabad on Friday, the foreign minister said that no one can replace Imran Khan in PTI because he founded the party.

If anyone has any misunderstanding, they should get rid of it," he underscored.

The minster said that those making such calls have forgotten about the charter of democracy, adding that such calls were also presented to the PPP and PML-N about their leaders but they had rejected.

'PTI allies not going anywhere'

Speaking about PTI allies, Qureshi asserted that they would not part ways with the ruling party. He added that PML-Q's Pervez Elahi belongs to a political family and has a political mindset. "The PML-Q does not take emotional decision but political decisions."

Qureshi said he had worked with the PML-Q in the past and he was aware of their political acumen. adding that they could never trust PML-N as everyone knew they never fulfilled their commitments.

"I am confident that allies will not withdraw their support from the government,” he said.

Qureshi also urged the dissident lawmakers to review their decision of joining the opposition camp against PM Imran and asked them to return to their party.

Imposing governor rule in Sindh

The foreign minister dismissed Interior Minister Shaikh Rasheed’s call for imposing governor rule in Sindh, adding that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should not worry as the PTI-led government had no intention of imposing governor rule in Sindh.

"PTI’s political committee has advised PM Imran not to take such a decision," the minister said.

Show-cause notices

Speaking at the occasion, Asad Umar announced that the party would issue show-cause notices to its dissident lawmakers - who stayed in Sindh House in Islamabad citing “security threat” from their own party members - for allegedly allying with the Opposition.

Umar, while responding to a question, said that PML-F and GDA had categorically announced that they were standing by the government.

The foreign minister said that the PTI was ready to listen to "valid concerns" of the dissident lawmakers, adding they should reconsider their decision and should weigh their choices with a "cool mind" and make a decision that was not against their party.
