Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MNAs have decided to resign en masse from the National Assembly, if the nomination papers of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Shehbaz Sharif for the slot of prime minister gets accepted.

PTI leader and former information minister Fawad Chaudhry announced this after a meeting of the former ruling party’s Central Executive Committee meeting in Bani Gala on Sunday. Other PTI leaders, including Farrukh Habib and Hammad Azhar, accompanied him in the press conference.

After the success of no-confidence motion against former prime minister Imran Khan, united opposition candidate Shehbaz and PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi submitted nomination papers for the premier's slot.

“The PTI has nominated Shah Mahmood Qureshi for the prime minister's slot and submitted his papers so that we can challenge Shehbaz’s nomination as a candidate as corruption cases are pending against him,” Fawad said.

A parliamentary party meeting has been convened in Bani Gala later today, he said, adding the PTI MNAs had submitted their resignations earlier, but we would request them to do so again.

Fawad said a comprehensive plan will be devised in the meeting as the PTI aspired to hold fresh elections in the country within few months. “That is the only solution of the political chaos in the country.”

Talking about the plan of nationwide protests across the country under a campaign run by Imran Khan and citing an “international regime change operation” that had “happened in Pakistan and toppled the PTI government”, the former federal minister said: “Imran Khan has requested the nation, including the party workers and families, to protest after Isha prayers in district headquarters.”

He said an "imported government" would be imposed on the country and the PTI along with the nations’ help would dismiss the "illegal government".

The former information minister added that they had declassified “letter gate” and sent it to the former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, Chief justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial, President Dr Arif Alvi and Senate Chairperson Sadiq Sanjrani.

“No honourable man will tolerate that the outside regime will take decisions for Pakistan,” he added.

He expressed despair on the landmark Supreme Court’s verdict related to no-confidence motion against former prime minister Imran Khan, saying the decision “intensified the political chaos further”.

Referring to PTI's claims of "foreign conspiracy" for "regime change" and urging people to protest, Imran Khan said in a tweet: "Pakistan became an independent state in 1947; but the freedom struggle begins again today against a foreign conspiracy of regime change. It is always the people of the country who defend their sovereignty & democracy."
