Punjab police recovered the girl, who was kidnapped from the Shad Bagh area of Lahore Sunday morning, from Arifwala tehsil of Pakpattan on Sunday night after the Lahore High Court ordered the Inspector General of Police Punjab to produce her before the court by 10:00 pm.

The CCPO Lahore told the media after the hearing of the case that the girl was abducted by her ex-fiancé from Lahore’s Shadbagh area.

He said that the police were unable to recover the victim quickly as the suspects had switched off their phones soon after committing the crime.

Earlier in the day, the teenage girl was abducted by armed gunmen in broad daylight as she was travelling along with her brother to attend a Matric examination near the Shad Bagh area of Lahore.

The CCTV footage of the incident showed that a vehicle intercepted them and four armed men disembarked from the car and forcefully dragged the girl into their vehicle.

Following the incident, Chief Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti had taken the notice of the abduction of the girl and ordered the IG Punjab to produce her before the court by 10:00 pm Sunday.

The IG Punjab requested the LHC CJ to grant him time till Monday morning. Justice Bhatti turned down the IG’s request and warned the IGP of stern action against him and other police officials.

CM Punjab lauds police for there efforts

Following the recovery of the abducted girl, Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shebaz lauded the police for their efforts. The suspects would be punished according to the law, the chief minister said in a tweet.

“All requirements of justice will be fulfilled in the case,” he said in the tweet.
