Covid surge in Karachi raises fear of sixth wave

KARACHI: The coronavirus positivity ratio in Karachi has gone up to 21.23%, Aaj News reported on Thursday, as the country continues to see an increase in daily cases.

Karachi reported the highest number of infections across the country with 138 new cases after conducting 650 PCR tests.

After Karachi, Lahore reported the most number of Covid-19 cases. 32 people have tested positive for the virus of the 1,674 who underwent PCR tests.**

In the past few days, the country has seen an increase in daily cases, after a decline in March.

As per data of the last 24 hours released by the National Institute of Health, Islamabad (NIH) on Thursday morning, 12,513 tests were conducted nationwide, out of which 268 came out positive.

Covid-19 booster shots have been advised by the Sindh Health Department for those 60 years of age and over.

The southern province has seen an uptick in cases, recording more than half the cases reported countrywide.
