The Office of Chief Secretary of Gilgit Baltistan announced that an old route to Gilgit-Baltistan had been reopened for tourists.

The route, known as Bungalow Babusar Track, is situated near Babusar Top in the Diamer district. The three km track is the historical route between River Kunhar and River Indus and until the 1960s, it had remained the only jeep route which connected Gilgit-Baltistan with the rest of the country.

The route had previously been deemed too unsafe for travellers but after rehabilitation and improvement, it was opened for tourists on Sunday.

The Gilgit-Baltistan region, with its lakes, mountains, and other breathtaking natural sights, has always remained popular among tourists.

The reopening of the track will make travelling to the area more convenient and might make Gilgit-Baltistan an even more inviting tourist destination.
