LAHORE: The railway administration and passengers got into a brawl on Saturday morning at the station over the delay in the arrival of more than 20 trains.

The ticket collector railway told Aaj News that they have informed everyone that trains were late from Karachi. There was water on the Karachi track because of which the train was travelling at a speed of five kilometres or 10km.

But, passengers have complained of the bad behaviour of the staff. The staff does not treat the passengers well upon inquiring about the timings, one of the passengers said.

People are very distressed, they said and lamented the system to cope with such situations.

The administration has decided to run the Karachi Express at 5:30pm and the Karakoram Express at 7:30pm, the TCR said.

Pakistan will celebrate Eidul Adha on July 10 (tomorrow), according to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. Every year people travel to their hometowns on Eid, leading to a rush at all travelling services. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on July 3 approved five Eid-ul-Azha holidays from July 08 to July 12. Such announcements have an impact on the plans of people.

Estimated delay in trains

  • Karakoram Express is 10 hours late
  • Karachi Express is 9 hours late
  • Shalimar Express is 8 hours late
  • Overall 20 to 25 trains are late

In order to facilitate passengers, Pakistan Railways announced that it would operate three special trains on the Eid holidays.
