PTI Chairman Imran Khan was expected to get arrested as an FIR was registered against him on Sunday for threatening Islamabad police officers and a female magistrate, during his speech a day earlier, under Section 7 (punishment for acts of terrorism) of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Police have sealed all routes in the surrounding area of Bani Gala, Imran’s residence. A large number of PTI’s senior leadership had gathered at Imran Khan chowk.

Journalist associations have condemned attacks on media workers after PTI workers attacked an Aaj News cameraman outside Bani Gala. They have demanded of the government to arrest the culprits.

The coalition government after consultation and a “secret briefing” from officials of the interior ministry has ordered the Islamabad police to arrest Imran. It has advised cops to pick an appropriate time for arrest.

Imran has vowed to give “real freedom” to the country during a rally in Rawalpindi.

The Islamabad High Court would take up the government’s plea to become a party in a case against the physical remand of PTI leader Shahbaz Gill today (Monday). Pims General Surgeon Dr Tariq Abdullah has been added to the medical board to examine the PTI leader’s condition.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has described the apparent torture of Gill as a “drama” and rejected it. He claimed that the PTI leader suffered no torture in police custody while the Punjab government and Adiala Jail were responsible for such reports if there are any.

PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry demanded of the government conduct an investigation if Gill did not suffer any torture.

PTI won the by-election on Karachi’s NA-245. PTI’s Mehmood Maulvi bagged 29,475 votes, party workers celebrated the victory.

Third nationwide polio campaign starts today (Monday). More than 40 million children under five years of age will be administered polio drops in 142 districts of the country, the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme said.
