The opposition parties on Wednesday have agreed to bring a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The decision was made in a meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and leadership of Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) was held in Model Town.

According to Aaj News, the alliance decided that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari would table the no-trust motion against the Prime Minister.

The no-trust motion against CM Punjab Usman Buzdar and Speaker of National Assembly Asad Qaiser will be tabled later, the news channel reported.

During the meeting, the politicians discussed a strategy to make the no-confidence motion successful and also discussed the prevailing political situation in the country.

According to various media reports, the opposition parties also agreed to nominate Shehbaz as the next prime minister once the no-confidence motion succeeds.

Aaj News also reported that the opposition has decided to continue contacts with PTI allies but was confident that it could also get the required number even without the coalition partners' support.

Maryam Aurangzeb rejects Fawad Chaudhry's claims

PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb rejected Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry's claims that three PTI lawmakers had been offered bribes to support the no-confidence motion against the government in parliament.

"I dare the opposition to table a no-confidence motion within 24 hours," the Information Minister said at a presser earlier in the day.

Reacting to the minister's challenge during a presser, Aurangzeb said that PDM would jointly decide the timing of the the no-confidence motion, adding that Opposition was confident that the motion would succeed.

Earlier this week Zardari held separate meetings with Fazl and Shehbaz to discuss the strategy needed to oust the PM through the motion.

Both the leaders also assured their full support to PPP's long march to Islamabad, saying they would welcome PPP convoys in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
