5 Indian troops including Lieutenant killed in Kupwara clash

Five Indian troops including an army officer were killed and several other personnel were injured in a clash between Indian troops and Mujahideen while five are reported to be martyred by troops in Kupwara district.

The Indian army officials while admitting losing three of its troopers including an Army Lieutenant of 18 Grenadiers and two of the Special Operations Group personnel said that the clash erupted at Mulial - Awathkul in Kralipora area of the district on Monday.

An Army spokesman claimed that five militants were killed in the operation so far, reported Kashmir Media Service on Wednesday.

Military helicopters having heavy weaponry machines were also used during the operation, locals told media men.

On the other hand, a dead body of a civilian, identified as Bilal Ahmad Seyam was found dead who was hanged with a tree at Aali Gund Awantipora.

Meawhile, Indian troops arrested Showkat Ahmad Dar, Ghulam Hassan Butt and Showkat Ahmad Dar from Samboora in Pulwama.
