Effort underway to explore more gas, oil reserves: DMD SSGC

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is utilising all resources to explore more oil and gas reserves. This was stated by Deputy Managing Director Sui Southern Gas Company Ltd, Zuhair Ahmed Siddiqui while talking to media at Nawabshah Press Club.

He further said that full-fledged work was in progress to utilise the gas reserves of the country. Joint Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Hamid Asghar Khan was also present on the occasion.

Zuhair Siddiqui said that apart from natural gas, work was in progress on the use of LNG, CNG and other variations of gases and the demand for domestic, commercial and industrial requirement would be met according to their need.

He said that supply of gas could be improved by preventing its leakage and theft. He said that introduction of new dimensions are a must with the increasing population of the country.

Regarding Pakistan-Iran Gas Pipeline project, he said that Iran has laid the pipeline upto the border of Pakistan from where the pipe-laying work by Pakistan would soon start.

He said that the demand of gas for domestic, commercial and industrial use has increased manifold and the company has planned to meet the demand through various options. He said that the number of gas consumers has increased from 1.6 million to 2.6 million.

Joint Secretary Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources Hamid Asghar Khan said that the recent unprecedented rain caused severe damage and destruction in Sindh. He said that millions of people were displaced, road communication, crops, house and local economy suffered extensive damage while a large number of livestock was also killed.

He said that media played an important role in portraying the extensive devastation caused by last year's floods and recent rains to the world.

Hamid Asghar said he and his team were impressed by the beautiful building of the Nawabshah Press Club. Regional Manager SSGC Shabbir Ahmed Magsi was also present on the occasion.
