World ignoring Pakistan’s sacrifices in war against terrorism: Nawaz

President, PML (N), Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday opined that Pakistan was facing economic and political alienation despite of enormous sacrifices in the war against terrorism.

"We are receiving threats and pressure to do more is increasing while our sacrifices for the war against terrorism are being ignored," he said in his opening remarks while addressing the Party's Central Working Committee (CWC) Meeting held here at Punjab House.

Nawaz Sharif regretted that pressure to do more is increasing while nobody is thinking about the price being given as result of war against terrorism.

"Terrorist activities have not only badly affected the economy but also plunged our country into energy crisis including the load-shedding," he added.

He pointed out that terrorism also shattered confidence of the investors and they preferred to look opportunities outside the country. He, however, regretted that the parliament and the opposition parities were not taken into confidence on this important issue, saying, these two vital organs are used only to release pressure.

The recommendations and resolution of the parliament on Abbottabad issue were put aside and even the proposals of the treasury benches were also ignored, he added. He also criticized the government for its appeal for international aid for the flood affected people in Sindh. The foreign countries were not ready to extend help as the government assistance was not seen in the rain-hit areas, he added.

The PML (N) President asserted that a loss of Rs.1, 000 billion could be saved by good governance in the state owned enterprises during the last three and half an year.

He said the decisions of the Apex court were not being implemented in letter and spirit and said that a power plant of 450 MW was lying unattended at Karachi port which could reduce power load-shedding crisis.

He said people are on the street to protest against load-shedding and asked its workers to come forward and join the protest rallies. "Our sympathies are with the protesters and our workers should express solidarity with them," he added.

Nawaz Sharif also criticized increase in the petroleum and gas prices and said that high interest rates of banks have created problems for the trading community.

He said the volume of local and foreign loans have touched Rs.11 trillion mark. Stressing a need to break the begging bowl, he said,” We should not further test our friendly countries and admit our mistakes."

He said there was no improvement in Balochistan situation and said he would visit Balochistan to help end a sense of deprivation in the province. The meeting reviewed the party reorganization progress and discussed the strategy for the next election including registration and verification of electoral rolls and co-operation with others parties or groups.
