Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan said on Monday that at a time when we are facing multiple challenges, the country needs unity but a political party was trying to get political milage from the situation.

She was talking to media persons after addressing as chief guest at a training workshop "Responsive Reporting during Emergencies" organized by National Press Club and National Disaster management Authority here.

The minister said that the nation has given a message of unity to the entire world through holding a successful APC, but unfortunately a political party was trying to get political advantage from the situation.

She said that it was unbecoming of a leader of major political party like PML-N to criticize the President of Pakistan who is an elected head of state. The minister said that we should not forget that the county is facing multiple challenges and unity was need of the hour.

She said that the president is an elected head of state and criticizing him tantamounts to criticizing the Parliament. The minister further said that it was the beauty of the democratic system that political leaders were criticizing an elected president.
