Peshawar close to victory in Quiad-e-Azam Trophy

Peshawar moved close to victory against Multan Region on the second day of four-day Quaid-e-Azam Trophy Cricket Tournament Division-II match being played here at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Multan Region after tumbling down in the first innings on 67 runs, also failed in the second innings, losing four wickets for 119 runs in response to 365 for 3 declared by Peshawar Region in first innings with unbeaten centuries by Sajjad Ahmad and Akbar Badshah.

When the bails were off, Multan Region in their second innings were on 119 for four after playing 30 overs with Naveed and Muhammad Waris were playing on 60 and 2.

Peshawar Region started the first innings on overnight score of 164 for two and made 365 for three after playing 91 overs. Naveed was on his overnight 52 added only 14 runs when he was run-out on 66.

His 109 innings included nine boundaries while Sajjad was on 36 not out overnight smashed elegant century 119 runs not out with 15 cracking boundaries after playing 198 balls.

In reply, Multan Region faced hardship again at the hands of Peshawar Region bowlers, losing four wickets for just 119 runs after playing 30 overs. For Multan Najum made (21) and was the only high run contributor with Naveed on 60 not out and Waris was on 2 not out.

For Peshawar Nouman Habib, who also grabbed four wickets in the first innings, took three more wickets against Multan Region in the second innings for just 20 while Waqar got one wicket for 42 runs.
