Three Motorway Police officials suspended for negligence in bus tragedy

A deputy superintendent of police (DSP), two inspectors and one photographer of Motorway Police have been suspended on proving negligent in performing of duties, said Federal Minister for Communications Dr Arbab Alamgir on Tuesday.

Responding to a calling attention notice of Ms Yasmin Rehman in the National Assembly, he said the aforementioned officials were proved guilty in allowing the overcrowded Faisalabad-bound bus of school children to run on Motorway that met with an accident on September 26 killiong 33 children.

He said according to the findings of inquiry committee, the Motorway Police had failed to check the 30-year old bus that was carrying 112 passengers instead of 57.

According to the inquiry report, the bus driver was also a novice having no experience of driving in salt range and hilly areas. He said there were 48 entry and exit points at the Motorway. Overloading is being checked at only 14 toll plazas of the Motorway.
