24-hour CNG shutdown announced in Sindh

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Thursday announced 24-hour CNG station shut-down in Sindh province. A SSGC release said in the wake of an extraordinarily low pressure situation that has badly affected overall gas supply, SSGC will shut down gas to the CNG stations in Karachi and interior Sindh for 24 hours from 9 am on Friday, December 16 till 9 am on Saturday, December 17, 2011.

The decision was made during the meeting of SSGC management with the representatives of CNG associations at the Company head office on December 15.

Chairing the meeting, Syed Hassan Nawab, DMD (Operations), SSGC said that since the line pack (the actual amount of gas in the distribution system) has fallen from 950 mmcfd to a historical low of 750 mmcfd, it has become essential to shutdown CNG stations to make enough gas available for domestic consumption.

The management reiterated that SSGC realizes that the customers are faced with an acute situation yet the Company is taking all actions to ensure uninterrupted gas supply.

In this regard, the management would appreciate the customers utmost cooperation in ensuring normal supply.

Abdul Sami Khan, Chairman, CNG Dealers Association, Malik Khuda Baksh, Chairman, CNG Station Owners Association, Shabbir Sulemanji, Chairman, All-Pakistan CNG Association (Sindh) and CNG bodies representatives and station owners participated in the meeting. SSGCs Shaukat Baloch, SGM (Transmission), Salim Ahmed Mughal, SGM (Distribution-North) and Shoaib Warsi, SGM (Distribution-South) also attended the meeting.
