Pakistan 288-7 in first Test

Pakistan were 288-7 at close on the second day of the first Test against England played at Dubai Stadium on Wednesday, having a lead of 96 runs over their rivals' first innings total of 192.

Adnan Akmal stood on 24. Abdul Rehman was bowled for four in the last over of the day.

Both Graeme Swann and James Anderson chipped in the final two overs of the day with the wickets of Misbah-ul-Haq for 54 and Abdur Rehman (four).

Earlier, Pakistan opener Mohammad Hafeez missed a century by just 12 runs, but still managed to ease his side into the lead. Hafeez hit an attractive 88 during his resolute 114-run opening stand with Taufiq Umar (58) to help Pakistan overhaul England's first innings total of 192 on a slow turning pitch.
