Pakistan team fined for slow over-rate

Pakistan cricket team has been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during the opening match of the Asia Cup cricket tournament in Dhaka on Sunday.

David Boon of the Emirates Elite Panel of International Cricket Council (ICC) Match Referees imposed the fines after Pakistan was ruled to be two overs short of its target when time allowances were taken into consideration, says an ICC press release received here from Dubai.

In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct regulations governing minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount.

As such, Misbah was fined 40 per cent of his match fee while his players received 20-per-cent fines. If Misbah is found guilty of one more minor over-rate offence in ODIs over the next 12 months, he will receive a one-match suspension as per the provisions of the ICC Code of Conduct.
