Government to seek accord with Baloch leaders: SC

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heading a three-member bench heard the law and order situation of Balouchistan case.

Commenting on the writ of the government and the law and order situation, the Chief Justice said “It is amazing to see that in the area where the writ of the law enforcement agencies is established, such gruesome incidents are taking place.”

Advocate General Balouchistan, Amanullah Kanrani informed the bench that law enforcement agencies were also being targeted by, to whom he referred as terrorists. The Chief Justice reminded him that it is the state’s duty to protect the lives and property of the people.

After observing the Balouch people to be peaceful, the bench suggested that the government to sit with the Balouch chiefs for a peaceful solution.

The other two incidents that the Supreme Court took suo motu notice of were: abduction of Hamza Shahwani and murder of Zohaib, a businessman.

The court adjourned the hearing till March 22, 2012.
