According to sources, Bangladesh cricket team have approached South Africa for a series in May after postponing a series in Pakistan over the issue of security.

Sources in Pakistan stated that the tour is unlikely to go ahead due to Bangladesh's prior international commitments.

Bangladesh cricket board (BCB) President, Mustafa Kamal offered “Cricket South Africa” (CSA) to pay all the costs of a series, whether it takes place in Bangladesh or South Africa. Bangladesh team wants to play three ODIs and five Twenty20s in May.

The tour to Pakistan for an ODI and a Twenty20 at Gaddafi stadium, Lahore was postponed after Dhaka High Court raised the issue of security concern in Pakistan, and ordered the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to postpone the tour by four weeks.

Cricket South Africa CSA's chief executive Jacques Faul said, “We have received the request and we are in the process of checking whether it would be possible. We have got nothing against it, it's just about scheduling. At the moment, I can say it is a request we are looking at”.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) told media that the decision of not to tour Pakistan is not part of a conspiracy. The spokesperson also said that BCB was still waiting for a copy of the stay order from the Dhaka High Court.

It has been three years since 2009 attack on Sri Lankan team, Pakistan has been playing most of its home matches at neutral venues, mostly in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) will sit down with South African Cricketer's Association (SACA) and national coach Gary Kirsten to consider Bangladesh's request.

South African Cricketer's association (SACA) chief executive Tony Irish said, “ SACA is unlikely to give a green signal for the tour because this will fall outside the Future Tours Programme, it needs the permission of SACA to take place. He also said, “What I can say at the moment is that it is unlikely we will go through it”.
