MQM chief's demands against country's integrity: Sharjeel

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon Saturday termed the demands by MQM chief Altaf Hussain against the integrity and sovereignty of the country.

Addressing a press conference at People's Media Cell here, he  claimed that the demands, which were made at a public address in Hyderabad on Friday, might either be an attempt to divert attention from treason trial against former president Gen (retd) Pervez Musharraf or to obstruct the ongoing targeted action against criminals in Karachi, according to a handout issued here on Saturday.

Sharjeel Memon claimed that there is a possibility that some elements within the MQM ranks are misguiding Altaf Hussain and hatching conspiracies against him to stop him from returning to the country.

He urged the MQM chief to return to Pakistan and assured him that the PPP would be standing by him.

The Minister said that all those living in Sindh do not have any problem with each other and live with peace and tranquility. They are not depressed or despondent in any aspect, he added.

Sharjeel Memon said that the PPP would continue with its policy of reconciliation and would keep its doors open for all political parties for dialogue.
