Arjen Robben and Kevin Strootman might join Manchester United

Liou Van Gaal is set to launch a bid for Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben and AS Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman in January.

According to media reports, Van Gaal is confident of bringing midfielder Kevin Strootman to Old Trafford, although the move could be delayed until next summer if Roma progress in the Champions League. While, Old Trafford-bound coach tells Dutch television the Bayern Munich forward is welcome to follow him to Manchester united next season, Louis van Gaal is desperate to finally sign the winger in the New Year, with a £24million offer set to go in.

Previously, Van Gaal has signed Robben from Real Madrid when he was Bayern manager in 2009 and he also worked with him during his time in charge of the Netherlands squad. While Strootman returned to action for Roma last month and made his first start against Sassuolo in Serie A last weekend.

According to telegraph, Robben said, “I have a special bond with him; He is the most important coach in my career. After the match he did ask me to come to Manchester”, although Van Gaal later said, “Robben would have an open offer to join him, he is always welcome and is now hoping to be as popular at United as he was with Holland. I hope that the group in Manchester will become like this one. We have to start singing from the same hymn sheet”.
