Unfortunately today a member of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly, Jamshedud Din Kakakhel died due to the COVID-19. He passed away Wednesday morning at a private hospital in Islamabad.

The MPA, 65, belonged to the ruling Pakistan Tehreek E Insaf party. Hailing from Nowshera District, he served as Minister for Excise & Taxation in the 10th Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly. He was elected to the provincial assembly from his hometown Nowshera in 2018.

Kakakhel tested positive for the novel coronavirus last week and his condition deteriorated rapidly. He was kept on a ventilator in Kalsoom Hospital Islamabad. He lost his life battle Wednesday morning.

Information Minister Shibli Faraz said he was "deeply saddened" over the passing away of the PTI leader. In a tweet, he said Kakakhel's services for the party would be "remembered forever".

The same day another COVID-related death of one more MPA occurred. PML-N's MPA from Wazirabad, Punjab, Shaukat Manzoor Cheema also succumbed to the deadly virus, his colleague in the Punjab Assembly, MPA Bilal Farooq Tarar confirmed the news.

Having diagnosed with COVID-19, he was being treated at the Pakistan Kidney And Liver Institute (PKLI) in Lahore. He was taken off the ventilator a few days back as his breathing problem got better but then all of a sudden his condition got deteriorated very rapidly. PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow on the demise of his party member.

So just in the last 48 hours, three politicians belonging to three different provincial assemblies have succumbed to COVID-19. As MPA Ghulam Murtaza Baloch of Sindh assembly died of the disease on Tuesday and Jamshedud Din Kakakhel and Shaukat Manzoor Cheema lost their lives on Wednesday.
