Yesterday, Dr. Zafar Mirza who serves as a Special Assistant to Prime Minister Imran Khan for Health shared welcoming news that the plasma therapy trial being conducted in Pakistan is yielding encouraging results.

Dr. Mirza tweeted:

"Govt allowed sometime ago a clinical trial on plasma therapy which is yielding encouraging results according to the investigators."

He has asked the recovered coronavirus patients to donate plasma. In his tweet, he also shared the information regarding the centers collecting plasma samples from donors in Pakistan.

 

SAPM Mirza said that recovered COVID-19 patients can donate plasma at these eight centers.

He also gave information about the institute carrying out the clinical trials that is National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow, Karachi (NIBD), he wrote:

"Clinical Trails are being undertaken by the National Institute of Blood Disease & Bone Marrow, Karachi. Recovered patients from Karachi can donate plasma by contacting NIBD https://t.co/bpucRSW9fr "

Plasma therapy is being used worldwide for the treatment of COVID-19. This century-old technique which has been quite effective in treating several infections in the past is showing significant promise against COVID-19. Doctors are pleading to the recovered patients to donate plasma, as it can be a lifesaver for people battling the disease.
