Currently, there are 35 designated tertiary care hospitals in Pakistan that are dealing with COVID-19 patients.

This COVID-19 pandemic has caught everyone off guard, especially the healthcare systems of almost every country has been exposed badly. The massive amounts of casualties caused due to COVID-19 are a striking proof that the world wasn't prepared to tackle a pandemic.

Even the developed countries like Italy, England, USA, Spain, etc. have found it extremely hard to fight this new virus. Third world countries have much bigger problems to face in this pandemic. On one hand, they are ill-equipped to deal with this disease and on the other hand they are battling poverty.

In Pakistan, the number of COVID-19 cases so far has reached over 190,000 and death tally is touching the 4,000 figure. Our health system was in shambles even before the Coronavirus pandemic, but now our hospitals are facing much bigger difficulties in handling the situation. It's quite understandable as we've neglected our healthcare system for decades.

Prime Minister Imran Khan says that his government is dealing with the disease to the best of their abilities and are providing all healthcare facilities absolutely free of cost. From testing to treatment everything is provided absolutely free in government hospitals.
