Death anniversary of prominent Pakistani philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi is being observed on Wednesday.
Abdul Sattar Edhi started welfare services in 1951.
He later established world's largest volunteer ambulance network along with homeless shelters, animal shelters and orphanages across the country.
The iconic humanitarian activist was born on February 28, 1928 in Gujarat before the partition of the sub-continent and migrated to Pakistan after its creation in 1947. He began his humanitarian work soon after migration.
Many international and national awards, including Nishan-e-Imtiaz were bestowed upon him in recognition of his services for humanity.
