LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned Chief Minister of Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on August 12.

According to details, the anti-graft watchdog has summoned Usman Buzdar over issuance of illegal alcohol permits to a private hotel in Lahore.

According to the NAB sources, CM Buzdar had issued a liquor licence to a private hotel, which is right of DG Excise. He has been summoned to record his statement in the inquiry, sources said.

In April, NAB had launched an investigation into the alleged corruption by Punjab CM on two complaints filed against him.

In one case Buzdar is accused of getting a liquor-sale permit to a private hotel in Lahore. While, in the other case, the chief minister is accused of getting a helicopter for his official use insure for Rs70 million, instead of Rs30 million, according to sources. Buzdar had directed to pay the insurance amount through a supplementary grant.

Sources had said the Buzdar also responded to the commission’s queries about the provision subsidy on the export of sugar.

On the other hand, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has also summoned Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) vice-president Maryam Nawaz on August 11.

The anti-graft watchdog has directed the PML-N leader to appear before the bureau in a case pertaining to 200 acres of land.

It may be noted that Chairman NAB Justice retired Javed Iqbal vowed across the board accountability and added that NAB does not believe in any discrimination.

“Mega corruption cases will be led to their logical end”, he had said and termed corruption a cancer and the biggest obstacle in the development of the country. NNI
