The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will take on the petitions against the convictions of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, and Captain Safdar in Al-Azizia, Avenfield and Flagship references today.

A two-judge bench of Islamabad High Court, comprising Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, will hear the case.

The court will take on the pleas Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, Nawaz Sharif’s lawyer Khawaja Haris filed in the IHC requesting exemption from personal appearance on his behalf on medical grounds.

It has been stated in the petitions that Nawaz Sharif abroad seeking medical treatment and can’t appear before the court on Tuesday (Today).

Maryam Nawaz and Capt. Safdar's request to adjourn the tomorrow's hearing on the appeal in the Avenfield reference will also be heard today. Maryam Nawaz will appear in court in person in the case against the sentence in the Avenfield reference.

In the Avenfield reference appeal, Maryam Nawaz and Captain Safdar's lawyer Amjad Pervez filed two separate pleas for the adjournment of the case.

Former Prime Minister and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Capt (retd) Safdar are out on bail after the sentence suspension in Avenfield and Azizia references.

Strict security measures have been taken on the occasion of Maryam Nawaz's appearance in the Islamabad High Court.

It i pertinent to remember that Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz, Capt (retd) Safdar have been out on bail since Sept 19, 2018 when the IHC suspended the 10-year, seven-year, and one-year imprisonment handed down to them by an accountability court on July 6, 2018.

The Supreme Court had later upheld the suspension of their conviction while dismissing the NAB appeal.
