  • The active cases in KP have surged to 14,399.

  • Yesterday, Mardan, Lower Dir, and Peshawar reported the highest positivity rate among all the cities of the province. These three cities have also reported the highest 7-day and 14-day positivity rates too indicating the Covid crisis in the cities.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's health and finance minister Taimur Khan Jhagra has once again urged the public to rigorously follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) put in place by the local authorities so that we can curtail the spread of the deadly flu bug. While sharing the latest situation of the province via social media website Twitter, the minister notified the public that out of the 1,968 critical COVID-19 patients 1,052 were admitted in High Dependency Unit (HDUs) across the province.

As per the latest reports shared by the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC), KP's Covid stats are as follows:

Confirmed Cases: 112,140                      
Cases reported in the past 24h: 1,265         

Tests conducted in the past 24h: 8,344            
The positivity rate in the past 24h: 15.2%           

Confirmed Deaths: 3,066            
Deaths reported in the past 24h: 37     
            
Recoveries: 94,675       

Total active cases: 14,399     

Critical cases: 1,968   

The novel coronavirus crisis has been intensifying in Pakistan especially in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the last few weeks.

Responding to the grim situation, yesterday, Prime Minister Imran Khan announced to implement further restrictions across the country and warned the public to follow the SOPs otherwise the government will be forced to enforce a countrywide lockdown that could prove to be detrimental for Pakistan's economy and millions of daily wagers.
