To say that Coronavirus has absolutely devastated the most developed country in the world is by no means an understatement. Of almost 7.5 million infections worldwide, a whopping 2 million have occurred so far in the United States of America. Also, the fatality rate is concerning as casualties by the viral disease have already exceeded 115,000 in the USA, accounting for almost a quarter of covid deaths worldwide (Total casualties worldwide are more than 419,000).

The U.S. has attained the undesirable milestone of two million COVID-19 cases. The second country on the list is Brazil which has about one-third of the cases of America. One factor behind it is that America is the country that has tested most people, more than 22 million people. But experts say the testing capacity is still insufficient.

American healthcare system and economy have been ravaged by COVID-19, but experts worry that it's only the tip of the iceberg. The sole way out of this pandemic is herd immunity but herd immunity kicks in only after more than 60-70 percent of the population is exposed to virus either naturally or by a vaccine, so it's thought that the US fight against the virus has only just begun.

With businesses being reopened and also the riots taking place in all 50 states of America, it's estimated that a spike will be seen in viral cases across the country. So it's safe to say that President Trump will be having a lot more to worry in the coming weeks.

This week Dr. Anthony Fauci, the US government's top infectious disease expert, called the coronavirus his “worst nightmare” and warned the public in these words:

"Where is it going to end? We’re still at the beginning of really understanding.”
