Instagram apologies to Bella Hadid for removing her story about Palestinian heritage, issues explanation
Instagram has apologized to Bella Hadid for removing her story about her father's Palestinian heritage. The social media giant has also offered an explanation in a statement given to Page Six:
“To protect the privacy of our community, we don’t allow people to post personal information, such as passport numbers, on Instagram. In this case, the passport number was blurred out, so this content shouldn’t have been removed. We’ve restored the content and apologized to Bella for the mistake.”
Bella Hadid had called out Instagram for censoring a post that stated her father Mohammed Hadid was born in Palestine, as it apparently breached Instagram's company guidelines.
Hadid had shared a photo of her father's passport along with a caption:
"my baba and his birthplace of Palestine"
However, her post was removed by Instagram for breaching the community guidelines, the supermodel said in her story. Hadid had reacted strongly to the removal of her post saying that she is proud of her Palestinian heritage.
