Famed scholar Allama Zameer Akhtar Naqvi passes away
Famed religious scholar and poet Allama Dr Syed Zameer Akhtar Naqvi has passed away, on Sunday, at the age of 76 in Karachi after suffering a cardiac arrest.
According to his close friends, Allama had suffered a heart attack late night on Saturday and was taken to the Agha Khan University Hospital, where he could not survive. His funeral prayers will be offered in the Imambargah Shuhada-e-Karbala in Federal B area in the evening.
Zameer Akhtar Naqvi was born in Luknow, India in 1944 and moved to Karachi, Pakistan in 1967 after he completed his graduation.
Allama Naqvi had a PhD from University of Karachi, authored approximately 28 books on various subjects, and remained the editor of the Al Kalam magazine besides heading the Anees Academy. He was known for his extensive knowledge of science, philosophy, literature, culture, journalism and Islamic history.
