The Lahore High Court (LHC), on Monday, asked the Punjab government to apologize to the nation for the inappropriate remarks made by Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umer Sheikh about the victim of the motorway gang-rape incident.

The LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan made these remarks while hearing a petition for the formation of a judicial inquiry commission to investigate the unfortunate incident.

The Chief Justice remarked that an impression has been created on the behalf of the authorities that the women of this country are not safe on the roads. He directed the Lahore police chief that the culprits be apprehended immediately to submit a report in this regard day after tomorrow.
