The coronavirus-related casualties have reached 7,000 in Pakistan. According to the statistics provided by the federal government website, 23 people died due to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours taking the death tally to an exact seven thousand.

Pakistan is experiencing a second surge or wave of Coronavirus infection. In the last couple of weeks, a significant number of people are being reported to contract the viral disease on the daily basis. Just last week, 10,216 new cases were reported in Pakistan while 151 people died due to COVID-19.

The government of Pakistan is concerned regarding the rising cases and has implemented a 'smart lockdown' in several hotspots of major cities. The Covid-SOPs are also being revised considering the latest data collected daily.

In Pakistan, the novel coronavirus was first reported 258 days ago on February 26, 2020. Since then 346,476 people have been confirmed to contract the viral infection and 7,000 people have died during the period.
