Coronavirus cases are surging again in Pakistan as over two thousand new cases are being reported daily in the country.

The number of active coronavirus cases has exceeded 30,000 in Pakistan. This is an alarming situation. Almost all major cities of the country have reported a significant rise in coronavirus infection. Especially Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, and Muzaffarabad have witnessed a spike in new cases in the last two-three weeks.

Currently, Punjab leads the country in the number of active cases with 11,293 cases closely followed by Sindh that has 11,020 people battling the COVID-19.

Amid rising cases, Prime Minister Imran Khan has appealed to the nation to follow coronavirus SOPs and do not take the second wave of viral disease lightly. The government is pondering over shutting down schools, colleges, and wedding halls again. Though no final decision is taken yet. Public health experts have asked the government to shut down places that have a higher risk of spreading the viral infection like schools, colleges, wedding halls, and also ban political rallies/gatherings.

According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) the latest coronavirus situation in the country is as follows:

Confirmed Cases: 363,380  (Last 24 hours: 2,208)

Active Cases: 30,362 

Deaths: 7,230  (Last 24 hours: 37)

Recoveries: 325,788  (Last 24 hours: 954)
